In Ancient Egypt people built mudbrick homes. People grew there own food and traded that in for anything they could not grow.Most Egyptians worked as farmers,field hands, craftsman or scribes. Scribes were the only ones who could read and write.They would write lettors for the pharoh and appear in tombs and temples.

Pharaohs
The most significant and important person in Ancient Egypt was the Pharoh. The Pharoh was the religious and political leader of the Egyptian people. The Pharoh owned all the land and made laws, collected taxes and defended Egypt from enimies. Pharohs were said to be the ''Lord of the two lands''.

The gods and goddesses of Ancient Egypt
The Ancient Egyptians beleived in many gods and goddesses. They beleived that each one had a different job to maintain peace to the the land.Ancient Egyptians beleived that life would not run smoothly without them so they would worship and recodnise them all the time.'Ofiicial' gods were Amun,Horus and Bastet. These gods were worshiped by either pharaohs or priests in temples but some other gods like Tawaret and Bes were worshipped in people's homes.Some Gods and Goddesses have animal heads because they have a connection to an animal from their role .Some gods or goddesses are Ra, the sun god,Hathor,the god of love and joy and is a protective goddesses and Nut, the sky goddess.Click on Goddesses and Godsto go to there own page where you can see them all and vote for your favourite.

From the Old KIngdom to the end of the Middle Kingdom pyrimids were used for tombs to bury Pharaohs and their queens. 80 pyramids are known today from ancient Egypt and these are all in different shapes and sizes. Pharohs built pyramids because they beleived that after death they would take all their wealth and belongins in their pyramids with them to the afterlife.Pyramids are said to be the house of eternity. The largest pyramids know are all built at Giza.Giza is located on the west bank of the Nile. The 'Great Pyramid' is the most well known pyramid for the pharaoh Khufu.
