In Egypt Islam is the official religion. More than 90% of Egyptians are Muslims(followers of Islam).Sunni is almost the only branch Egyptians worship of islam.Coptic Christians are the second largest Religion with 9% of the population and other religions take up 1% of the population. In Egypt by law Coptic Christians and other religions can worship freely however some major muslim groups have  erupted violence against the Coptic community. Some Muslim traditions affect the law, such as Islam requires money from the wealthy to give to the poor. Muslim beleivers in Egypt pray 5 times a day, gives things up for Islam and if possible go on a  journey to Mecca,Saudi Arabia to worship him at the so called "sacred city of Islam".The Egyptian goverment controls Muslims(Islam) although they have alocated poisitions for major leaders. Sometimes Muslims have ceromonies or festivles and these events go out of control!
